The most important first step is to pick the date and time. We perform several hundred weddings on public beaches and private locations each year, so the earlier you reserve your date with us, the better.
2. Do you pick the location or do we get to do that?

“If you can dream it, we can arrange it.” We’re here to help fulfill your dream wedding. If you have a location in mind, we will discuss the feasibility of that location. We can also recommend some of the best locations. We’ve been doing this for over a decade.
3. What do we need to do about getting our marriage license?

Dolphin Dream Weddings will set up your marriage license appointment for you before your arrival on Maui. We will send you a directional map from your hotel or condo to the licensing agent’s office. The fee for your marriage license is $60 (cash) paid to the licensing agent. Photo id (i.e.: driver’s license or passport) is required and the bride and groom must both attend the appointment. After the license has been issued you have up to 30 days to get married anywhere on the Hawaiian Islands. Following the ceremony, we will send the completed license to the State Department of Health. Your certified copy will be mailed to you after you get home.

4. Where are the best beaches for sunset weddings?
^
Since the sun sets in the west, the beaches on the west side of the island are better for sunset weddings (you can’t see the sun set over the water on the east side). Beaches in the Kapalua and Kaanapali area of West Maui, and beaches in the Makena and Wailea area of South Maui usually provide the best sunset views.
5. What time of day is the best time to get married?
^
We recommend the early mornings (8-9 am) and late afternoons (usually 1-1.5 hours before sunset) as the best times for your ceremony. The middle of the day, if on a popular beach, can be quite crowded with “sun worshippers,” and it is the warmest part of the day.
6. Do you help with receptions?
^
Yes, whether it is a party of two, or a large reception, we can help secure the perfect post-wedding celebration sites, food (catered or restaurant), and entertainment.
7. What happens if it rains?
^
If it rains, we can guarantee one thing, someone is going to get wet! We have close communication with God (prayer), but we don’t have control over the weather. We usually wait out a “pineapple” shower, but if the rain persists, we can relocate to another beach where it is not raining. Some private sites may have pavilions, or tents can be rented as a backup. In some cases, there may be an additional charge to secure a facility for the possibility of rain.
9. Why should we use your professional photography or videography?
^
Your wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime event. Capturing it for future viewing is very important. Our professional photographers and videographers can capture the best scenes and ensure proper lighting and effects. From “Just Maui’d” photos in the sand, to romantic sunburst video footage, we can capture the special moments of a wedding day. It can be very disappointing if a couple relies on a friend or family member to videotape their ceremony only to discover a camcorder unable to pick up the audio (we use wireless microphones), or when the photos don’t turn our because of poor lighting.
10. Can we buy the negatives from the photographer?
^
For years, professional photographers have been only able to make prints available. With the rise of digital photography, more and more photographers are able to share digital negatives. The photographers of Dolphin Dream Weddings can either presale the cost of including the digital negatives, or can work with you to purchase additional photos after you’ve had the chance to view all the negatives. Additional photos, photo enhancements, and canvas portraits are available for an additional fee.
